Concrete Countertops Step 1

The concrete countertops are going in!!!! First New Ryan put in a particle wood base. This took an entire day because none of the cabinet tops were level so he had to patiently shim and shave all of the surfaces until it was nice and level.

He also built a plywood base for the breakfast bar. It used to hang over the countertops about 8 inches leaving this dead space where junk would just collect. I had them bring it out into the living room. This not only got rid of that wasted space, but also made the countertops bigger.

Then a few days later the whole crew came and built the form for the countertops. This was really fascinating to see. They had to precisely cut the plastic form and screwed them into the plywood. The form created a lip over the sides and once the concrete is dry, they simply snap off!

Next they will pour the concrete!
