Bathrooms.

The guest bath is just completely empty so I didn't take a photo of that. Imagine a tiny square with gray walls and white trim and that's ALL and you get the picture. The old cast iron sink that I wanted to mount to the wall is too heavy so I'm on the hunt for another one.

The master bath is coming along. The bull nose hasn't arrived but a backsplash has gone in, the cabinets below are prepped for paint and the walls are starting to be readied for paint as well.

And though it was a bummer that we were short on tile and had to wait for more to come in, I am LOVING how the shower looks.

And the hall bath is realllllly looking good! I am so excited to see if it all comes together like I picture it in my mind.

We ran out of tile in here TOO, so that was a bummer. It was ALSO special order so it won't arrive for awhile. But the guys didn't let it slow them down. They tiled all they could and moved on.

I love that I wrapped the tile up onto the ceiling. I think it makes it very luxurious. Just a few pieces shy and those cracks are where the cut marble shelves will be installed.

As for the walls....they are almost done putting up the barn siding!

Oh my gosh I love it so much. I even love how it is looking in the natural wood state...but I won't steer from my SHINY white ways, I know it. :)

It's October!

The first week of October was a very productive one! Here's a quick overview of all of the progress the guys made. I'm starting to believe we just MIGHT be done this month...but just a little bit.

Laundry Room:

Done painting and lights are in. Still need to put in backsplash, doors, cabinet doors, floors, and aluminum counter over the washer and dryer.

Oh yeah, and paint that door! :)

Check out how clean and organized my closets are without junk in them!

Task Area:

All it needs is cabinet doors and floors!

Office:

There is a bit of edge painting that needs to be done, the bathroom is bare, the closet is awaiting new shelves, the floors need to be laid and the exterior door needs paint...but check out this door!

Kitchen:

Gotta get that backsplash in, customize a few of the cabinets, get the doors on the cabinets, install the butcher block, put in appliances and hang a few more lights. But check this out!!!

Everyone doubted me on this one. When I showed up with a load of old, faded, and very dirty barn wood I got a lot of "looks." And when I said I wanted to wrap my kitchen island in it they thought I had lost it. Even my husband was unsure and when Ryan was finishing up the last piece he admitted that he thought I was crazy to put old yucky wood in my new clean house. But look at it! It's perfect and I love it...and I think they do to.

Living Room:

It's still the hub of the house and needs quite a bit. The exterior doors need paint, they need to finish the edge of the painting, the mantel needs to be installed along with the rest of the lights. The floor and a few surprise details but CHECK OUT THAT FAN!

Dining Room:

Lookin' good but will look better with floors, the rest of the edge painting done, some cabinet fronts, and of course that chandelier that I just can't decide on.

Boys' Room:

My gosh, the kids' rooms are REALLY close. 2 guys spent a few days prepping the foundation for the floors because they think they will get to it this week! How fun will that be!!! Then the kids' rooms would pretty much be done!

I'll make you wait until tomorrow to see the bathrooms.

And another one...

How about dining room chandeliers? Brad should be making our new farmhouse table in the next couple of weeks. It's gonna be long and though I've been searching for a dining room fixture for months, I can never just take the plunge! Why is this so hard for me??? I blame it on my Libra-ism. :)

I am really liking the idea of a lateral fixture like the 3 here. Which one is your favorite? Or should I head back to the drawing board all together?

Help!!!

I need somebody!

We are cruising along nicely at the house and the guys are starting to ask for stuff...and needing it STAT! This has been a crazy part of this whole process and I'm trying to enjoy the excitement of it all without completely losing my cool. Because I HATE MAKING DECISIONS...and there are oh, about 485 of them left to make. STAT!

So, would you please be kind and tell me what to do? :)

Here's one of the 485 that needs to be done like oh, 2 weeks ago...

Our lighting for the master bath. I have struggled with this decision from the very beginning. The mirror we are hanging in there is so big that there is no room to put sconces on either side. So I've narrowed it down to either a 3 arm fixture above the mirror or 2 pendants hanging down on either side of the mirror.

Easy enough, right? Oh wait, except there are 4 BILLION options...and I'm not in love with any of them. I had originally wanted to reuse the gorgeous milk glass globes that were hanging in the guest bath. But they have a 3 inch opening and I can't for the life of me find a pendant that fits it.

Here's the only over the mirror option that I can find that I might like:

And just a sidenote...am I really this picky?

And for pendants, well there are 4 million but basically it would look something like this:

I would realllllllly like it if it looked like this:

but I can't find anything like it anywhere!

I also love these from west elm but really don't want them to cast a "gray" or "green" haze on my already retched face...

But what about this glass one?

So? Please help me...

Been lots of paintin' goin' on!

The guys have had the brushes and paint guns out and the place is looking so different! Just like all those HGTV shows taught me, it IS amazing what a coat of paint can do!

The outside trim is done. I LOVE the dark charcoal gray.

The wall color really sets off the molding. It doesn't look as SHOCKINGLY clean anymore and you can REALLY see the molding details!

Tree Swing.

I've worked hard at cleaning out the patch of dirt where the wisteria bush was. Man, those things are impossible to get rid of. I'm not sure if we'll do grass or mulch here but either way, I'm picturing a cute handmade wooden swing to hang from that tree. Aren't you?

While they wait.

We visit the house every day to check in on the guys, see the progress, and answer questions or solve HUGE dilemmas. (they aren't ever HUGE, they just always seem to be in the moment, ya know?) Anyway, I usually drag the kids in and they always drive me completely nuts by getting into stuff, touching wet paint, falling into A/C holes, acting rude, pushing me, pulling Genevieve's legs, or most often just incessantly asking me when we are gonna leave. Sometimes I immediately send them next door to my parents. Sometimes I force them to stay outside where they dig in the dirt or play football. Or sometimes I leave them in the car with an ipad. Genevieve almost always goes in with me, but sometimes I even leave her if I'm gonna be fast. Her brothers LOVE getting to entertain her.

I'm always ready for a surprise when I return. One time there was a bobby pin in my CD player. One time Genevieve had turned herself completely sideways in her car seat from crying so hard. And one time Ben was laying in the back with a diaper on as a hat. Hilarious.
